It started with my own skin.

Gold4Skin started during the COVID-19 pandemic, when I was working for JetBlue and wearing a mask for long periods every day.

Over time, my skin started reacting to that routine. Hours of trapped heat, breath and sweat seemed to leave my pores congested and my skin breaking out in stubborn, painful blemishes. The tight elastic and nose wires left deep marks on my face, and some of the synthetic mask materials irritated my skin enough to cause rashes, dryness and peeling, while I was also dealing with uneven-looking skin.

I kept trying different products for different concerns, but instead of feeling like I had found what worked for me, my routine just kept getting more complicated.

When I took an extended leave from work and began spending more time at home with my daughter, I finally had more time to slow down and pay closer attention to what I was putting on my skin.

That’s when I started researching natural oils. I began trying them individually, learning how they felt on my skin, and eventually experimenting with my own blends. At the time, I wasn’t thinking about creating a skincare brand. I was simply trying to find a simpler way to care for my own skin.

As I continued to use the blend I created, people around me began noticing the change in my skin.

While visiting a family member, they commented on how different my skin looked and asked what my secret was, jokingly asking if it was Victoria’s Secret.

“No, it’s gold for the skin.”

When I said it, I wasn’t thinking of a brand name. What I had discovered felt like more than a secret. It felt like something valuable, like gold for my skin.

And that’s how Gold4Skin got its name.

I kept researching, experimenting and carefully refining what I was creating. For a year, I invested my own money into ingredients and packaging, and shared samples with family, friends and coworkers in exchange for their feedback.

Their feedback gave me the confidence to keep going. I was seeing changes in the people who were using the product, and some began purchasing it for themselves. Eventually, one of my products made its way onto the shelf of a local beauty supply store. When the manager told me it had sold out and demand was growing, it made me realize Gold4Skin could become something more.

At that point, Gold4Skin had become more than something I was creating for myself. I knew how to make the product, but I was learning that building a business around it was a completely different challenge.

As my personal life changed, my responsibility as a mother was to prioritize stability for my daughter and me. So I stepped back from Gold4Skin until I could give the business my full attention.

A few years later, I returned to school and studied business. I understood that if I wanted Gold4Skin to succeed and grow, I needed to be better prepared to build the business around it.

Upon returning and with the knowledge I had gained through my studies, I knew I didn’t want to launch with multiple products. So I’m relaunching Gold4Skin with Radiance Elixir, the product that brought me back to the brand and the first step in the skincare collection I’ve been building toward.

I want skincare to feel less complicated and less focused on chasing perfect skin. Gold4Skin is about caring for the skin you have, learning what works for you, and making room for simple routines that feel good and make sense.

Gold4Skin started from my own experience, but I want the brand to grow into something people can feel connected to.

As Gold4Skin grows, I want to keep listening to the people who use the products, learn from their experiences, and let that help guide what comes next.
